I originally found this species in the Cairns Central Swamp. There seemed to be quite a few of them around – along with a plethora of other similar species. They turn up in other places too, from time to time. In February 2021 I found one at Coalcliff, to the south of Sydney, which the first time I’d seen this species in NSW.
Fortunately colon‘s distinctive colour makes it relatively easy to identify, whilst many other Telicota species are so similar it’s difficult to be sure what you’re looking at.
