Notes
I first found these butterflies in the grassy open forest in certain areas in the Ingleburn Reserve. They’re not found in as many areas as H. pseudirius, or in such great numbers. A few years ago the Orange Ringlet disappeared from that site, and also from the Cox Street Bushland at Glenbrook, which had been my most reliable site for this species. Neither area seems to have changed much, as far as I can tell, but I hardly ever seen adiante anywhere nowadays, which is a shame as it’s a very pretty little butterfly.
In April 2018 I had the pleasure of seeing the subspecies antirius in a few places around Darwin. This version is smaller and more delicate, but it’s a very attractive sight.
