Synonyms
This butterfly was formerly known as Motasingha dirphia; in 2022 Motasingha was moved into the genus Hesperilla.
Notes
I’ve had difficulty distinguishing between this species and M. trimaculata, especially since both species were present at Koondoola. They are generally very similar, and the size of the spots on the underside of the hind wings varies in both species. I’m pretty confident about the ID of the males where the upperside can be clearly seen (well most of them), as the band of sex scales is broader in this species. But there are several photos I haven’t used as I couldn’t decide which species they were.
