Notes
I’d been to Cairns three times, without ever seeing this species. Bob Miller showed me where to find them near Holloway’s Beach, just north of Cairns. They were flyingin a small patch of grass, amongst which their foodplant was growing. Their size and flight reminded me more of some of the grass blues than of closely related species like E. hyacinthina.
In February 2010 I saw quite a number of these butterflies in the grassy areas at the bottom of Mount Tibberoowuccum in the Glass House Mountains.
On recent visits to Cairns I’ve seem more of these butterflies in various locations, sometimes in large numbers.
