Antipodia chaostola (Heath Sand-skipper)
Other Common Names
Chaostola Skipper
Notes
The NSW subspecies (chaostola) is extremely elusive, and seems to be almost never seen on the wing. The larvae are also few and far between, so I was fortunate that my butterflying mate Al showed me a larva he’d found in amongst loads of Hesperilla donnysa. I finally did get to photograph an adult in October 2018, but I think I’ll have to go to Victoria to get more/better shots; apparently their subspecies chares is a lot more cooperative.
