Notes
This species has only recently arrived in Australia. It’s from India and Sri Lanka, but has been spreading across South-East Asia and has now reached the Northern Territory. I did not know about its presence in this country until very recently, when my butterflying colleague Geoff Walker phoned me from Darwin to say he’d seen loads of these butterflies, and was sending me some pupae.
Within a few days I had some adults, so I stooged a few photos.
By April 2017 this species reached Cairns, appearing in numbers a week or two after I returned from a visit there 🙁 However on my trip to Townsville in December 2017 I saw plenty of specimens.
