Other Common Names

Kershaw’s Xenica, Kershaw’s Brown

Notes

I saw Striped Xenicas at various spots in the Barrington Tops National Park in January 2010. Mostly they were in forest areas where there were ferns in the understory, but one turned up in the sedges near to Pollblue Swamp. Most of them were pretty easy to photograph, though that may have been because the weather wasn’t great; it was mainly cool and cloudy, which may have made them easier to approach.

The only other occasion I’ve encountered this species was at Thredbo in January 2013. They were also reasonably well-behaved so I was able to get a few shots, which I was doubly pleased about as this was a different subspecies to the Barrington Tops butterflies.
