Synonyms

This butterfly was formerly classified as Toxidia peron; in 2022 it was moved into the genus Timoconia.

Notes

This is a common and widespread species along the east coast of Australia. I’ve photographed it everywhere from my own front garden through to far North Queensland. I regularly see them in the Royal Botanic Gardens on Sydney harbour, and they can be found in most bushland reserves across the city. The males are also frequently found on hilltops.
