Theclinesthes serpentatus (Saltbush Blue)

Synonyms

Theclinesthes serpentata

Other Common Names

Chequered Blue

Notes

Most of the time these butterflies are to be found flying low down or settling on low grasses and flowers. But at Mount Annan I’ve noticed them flying higher up around the Bottlebrush plants, and they appear to be able to feed from the flowers.

Although this species is widespread I’ve found Mount Annan to be my most reliable site; some years there can be a lot of them in the autumn and early winter.
